While Democrats scrambled to endorse their slate, or, in some cases, put on a show by walking  out of a high school auditorium last month, the Working Families Party was still undecided about what route it would take. Three would definitely be endorsed for City Council, I was told, but maybe, just maybe, they would feel emboldened and run a fourth. At the time, it looked like Wildaliz Bermudez, Levey Kardulis, and Shonta Browdy would be the picks, with Larry Deutsch as the potential fourth.

A few days back, the WFP circulated a survey with six individuals’ names and short bios. Participants were asked to pick as many of the six as they would like, and then to weigh in on the goals of the election and what should be done regarding the mayoral race.

Yesterday, the WFP announced it would be endorsing Joshua Blanchfield, Wildaliz Bermudez, Larry Deutsch, Cynthia Jennings, and Levey Kardulis.

None of these candidates are cross-endorsed; they are running only with the WFP this time. In addition to the two incumbents, this slate includes the head custodian at Bulkeley High, who has been vocal in the community for years; an environmental activist; and a middle school teacher in Hartford. Both Bermudez and Blanchfield have been active members of Hartford Rising! .

The WFP has yet to announce what, if anything, it intends to do for the mayoral race.
