No doubt a welcome addition but Gaspar asks himself why a delicious baguette style bread at Paneara or Hartford Baking Company costs double what a delicious baguette style bread costs at Sol de Borinquen or Abrantes Bakery.
Both Hartford Baking Co and Paneara are targeting a specific market. And Abrantes Bakery and Sol De Borinquen are simply there targeting the neighborhood. I would take either of these over Paneara or Hartford Baking Company.
Hartford baking company’s baguettes are a little crustier on the outside. Abrantes’ and Sol de Boriquien’s bread is softer. They’re better a la plancha, but I don’t think they operate in the same way as a baguette when un-ironned. Different breads made in different styles. None of them are going to put each other out of business. Isn’t it good to have bread options?
I heart Sol de B, but another restaurant / coffee shop with Sunday and evening hours would be awesome. Hope Panera doesn’t just target weekday lunch crowd.
