“What if […] play were at the heart of the everyday – even for adults? What if we were to see more and more people bringing play and imagination into politics? What if our daily lives included more opportunities and spaces where play was possible? Would it decrease our anxiety? Would it build empathy? Would it establish connections? And would it help us to be more imaginative and positive about the future and its possibilities?”
– Rob Hopkins in From What Is to What If

The Tr3s Trist3s Tigr3s (Tres Tristes Tigres AKA Three Sad Tigers)  have been spotted (well, striped) on surfaces in Hartford where, as you can see, the standard has been to paint and repaint in drab colors. This unsigned artwork offers an alternative.

If you never come back to this website again, the thing to leave here with is that everyone — that includes you — would benefit from exercising their imagination more often. Imagination is what allows for us to walk away from cop outs like “this is the way we’ve always done it” and “that’s nice but it wouldn’t work here” and “nobody cares.” Imagination demands something of us, and that something is more powerful than hustle or capitalism.

You can view this artwork from a sidewalk in Hartford. That’s the only clue you’ll get from me. Go out an explore.

Climate Possibilities is a series about climate mitigation, along with resilience, resistance, and restoration. It’s about human habitat preservation. It’s about loving nature and planet Earth, and demanding the kind of change that gives future generations the opportunity for vibrant lives. Doomers will be eaten alive, figuratively. All photographs are taken in Hartford, Connecticut unless stated otherwise.
