Since stopping the Place This Place series, I have stumbled across dozens of things that would have been perfect. This plaque, down in the South Meadows, is among them. It also would have been a cruel choice for the guessing game. Situated in an industrial area with no sidewalks, it’s not a likely spot for pedestrian traffic. It’s on a street that dead ends by the trash-burning plant. Access to the dike and the river is obstructed by a fence and all kinds of “don’t you dare even think about stepping over here” signs. On the other hand, if there were a sidewalk, this would be one of the few trees within view of it.
