A small group of men and women dedicated to stopping sexual violence marched from the Wadsworth Atheneum to the Connecticut State Capitol this afternoon, chanting “No means no!” and “Stop slut shaming!” along the route. Participants included people from Maine, Massachusetts, North Haven, students from Southern CT State University, and students and faculty from the University of Hartford.

Why did the walk go to the Wadsworth?

My understanding (and an organizer can correct me if I am wrong) is that it began and ended at the Wadsworth because it was a recognizable landmark. Most of the participants were not very familiar with Hartford, so it served as just an easy spot to find. Originally it was supposed to begin on Jennings Road, but this changed for a few reasons — parking and distance.
