The Farmington-Asylum Business District released news today about some progress regarding the Aetna Viaduct situation:

The Hub of Hartford Steering Committee (formerly known as the Aetna Viaduct Alternatives Committee) has selected a consulting team to perform the integrated transportation and land-use study of the alternatives for the future of the elevated portion of I-84 in Hartford (from approximately the Sisson Avenue exit to the Asylum Avenue exit).

The Boston planning and urban design firm Goody Clancy has been selected as the prime consultant — with subconsultants for engineering, community planning and economic development — from an impressive competing list of eight teams of national stature. The consulting contract will be administered by the Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG), which is currently negotiating the scope of work with Goody Clancy. The study is likely to begin in January and to take about a year. It is being funded by the City of Hartford and by federal funds obtained through CRCOG.

Goody Clancy is considered a green business, having won a “2008 Green Award and a Bike-Friendly Business Award.” Their website shows plans for some of the projects they are/have been involved in, including University Park at MIT, Danvers State Hospital Reuse Plan, and RiverPark Place. The firm is also involved in rebuilding New Orleans.
