We have been spotting cars parked in the new bike lanes on Wethersfield Avenue and Zion Street. Many, many cars. We have seen them traveling in the bike lanes that magically appear for a few blocks on Farmington Avenue near the West Hartford line.

But this one takes the prize: the bike lane has many signs, is marked with the bicycle symbol, and is painted bright green, which is visible even at night. The lane is too narrow for most cars. We also know it is the bike lane because that’s where all the debris gets left. Vulnerable users love to weave around coffee cups and broken glass!

We don’t know the motorist’s circumstances, but we do know that this is on a hill, so if the vehicle stalled, it could have been easily coaxed down the hill into the large surface parking lot at the corner of Broad Street and Capitol Avenue, or into the gas station on the opposite corner.
