With the shutdown, the guided walks through Hartford have moved online. Here is one that is not challenging in terms of distance, though it involves a hill and many possible tripping hazards.

If you’ve gotten into birdwatching, this is a good place to do it…just be sure to look at the ground while you’re walking.

You don’t have to start on Affleck Street near Ward Street. There are other entries and the one by Zion and Ward has a map posted.

Here is a suggested route. If uneven surfaces make you nervous, stick to the roadways. Keep an eye out for where you are putting your feet — there are many groundhog holes and places where the ground has “settled”.

If you notice anything is amiss when you visit, use the 311 app to report the issue so that DPW can add this to their “to do” list.
