To follow up on yesterday’s post, I think about how much dog poop has to happen for a homeowner to reach the point where putting up a sign (or spray-painting one on the sidewalk) is thought of as the least offensive option.

People should not have to be reminded to pick up after their dogs, but this also assumes folks are walking their dogs instead of just opening the door and letting the animals roam freely, doing their business unobserved. I’m thinking this is somewhere between laziness and preserving deniability — if they don’t see the poop happen, they aren’t compelled to remove it.

So, what is the situation when “No Pissing” is painted on the inside of an apartment building vestibule? Who was the culprit? Human? Dog? Cat?

P.S. This building is for sale. Maybe make an offer only if you’re good at preventing wayward pissers.
