As is the tradition, there will be parking bans in the North East neighborhood on Friday and Saturday because of the “West Indian Week Celebration Events.”

From 8p.m. until 4a.m. on both days, the Hartford Police Department says it “will permit motor vehicle and resident access” for the following:

  • Tower Avenue at Rutland Street
  • Tower Avenue at Cambridge Street
  • Tower Avenue at Greenwich Street
  • Tower Avenue at Melrose Street
  • Tower Avenue at Addison Street
  • Main Street at Rosemont Street
  • Main Street at Ashford Street
  • Main Street at St. Monica’s Avenue
  • Main Street at Montville Street

Expect officers at each of those intersections on August 9th and 10th.

On Saturday, expect street closures along the parade route.

  • Starting at 10 a.m.: Main Street (from Windsor Street to Westland Street). There is the possibility of Westland Street between Main Street and Clark Street also being closed to vehicular traffic if it needs to be used as a staging area.
  • 12 noon – 3 p.m.: Main Street (from Westland Street to Trumbull Street)
  • 12:15-3:30 p.m.: Trumbull Street  (from Main Street to Jewell Street)
  • 12:20-4:00 p.m.: Jewell and Ford Street

The parade should start around noon on Saturday at Main and Capen. It ends in Bushnell Park.
