Ricardo Levins Morales combines art and activism to create eye-catching work. You can see a display of this at the Broad Street Gallery which is located on the corner of Broad and Allen Street. His art covers a range of issues from environmental justice to labor to immigration.

The artist, based in Minneapolis, had worked for the Northland Poster Collective, which closed in 2009 after thirty years of action. If you have ever flipped through a Northern Sun Merchandise or Syracuse Cultural Workers catalog, then you have probably seen his work. He has since opened his own studio.

Artwork will be on display through April 2, 2011; the closing reception will take place from noon until 5pm on April 2, 2011. Trinity College will be staffing the gallery. For specific viewing times, contact Luis Cotto (luis.cottoATgmail.com) , as this is a Center Without Walls event.

There will be an artist’s talk at La Paloma Sabanera (Capitol Avenue and Babcock Street) on Monday, April 4th at 7pm. This is happening after the show’s closing because the Broad Street Gallery will be hosting another exhibit.

Dozens of Levins Morales’ works are currently on display at the Broad Street Gallery. There is no admission fee at the gallery; a parking lot is adjacent to the building and it is on a bus line.
