Yesterday evening I attended a fundraiser for the Knox Parks Foundation, which is responsible for a number of things including planting trees and flowers, and running the community gardens in Hartford. Since they’ve provided a place for me to work out my frustrations via weeding and digging in the dirt, I felt kind of obligated to attend.

Roughly 60 people showed up to the barbecue at Elizabeth Park. They had a nice selection of food (including veggie options) and drinks, and an 80s cover band that was a hit with the kids there.
I sort of attacked the pastry. It did not look like this until I touched it.
I had a good time, despite not having won any of the awesome REI bags that were raffled off. Everyone who attended was given a gift bag filled with seeds, an ecobulb, a poster depicting Bushnell Park (the image is also on the cover of a book), a pass to one of City Steam’s comedy nights, and some other things that I am probably forgetting at the moment. The bag itself is a tote, ideal for schlepping groceries home in.
