There must be studies on voter behavior to determine which strategies should be used in which types of campaigns, but as an unaffiliated (not undecided) voter who pays attention, always votes in general elections, and absolutely never votes straight across any party line, I thought it might be helpful to past and future candidates to shine light on what appeals to the very narrow demographic of me.

 

For those who are super literal about everything, no, I don’t expect anybody to campaign specifically to me, but candidates should be reflecting on what works and doesn’t. A strategy that was effective in 1979 offers no guarantee of the same results a generation later.
