Residents and stakeholders learned on Friday at the Livable and Sustainable Neighborhoods Initiative meeting firm numbers on how many graffiti complaints had been filed from 2012-2014: 97 in the south district, 72 in central district, 41 in west, 11 in north, and 1 for I-91.

According to one resident, those creating the New Britain-to-Hartford Busway had not anticipated the way that miles of concrete walls would be susceptible to tagging.

Many of the reported tags are on utility boxes around Hartford. It was suggested that instead of residents having to report on these before the City can act on it, Knox being given the go-ahead to just buff out the paint.

MECA, not present at the meeting, has just today posted a call for artists to submit design proposals that could be used to transform utility boxes into more vibrant parts of the urban landscape.
