Supporters of Kennard Ray rallied in front of the Mayor’s office in City Hall on Monday evening.

Several supporters, including Councilperson Larry Deutsch and Councilperson Cynthia Jennings, spoke out about the “prison industrial complex” and in favor of the “Ban the Box” ordinance. Rev. Henry Brown, Rev. Sam Saylor, AJ  Johnson, and former Councilperson rJo Winch were some of the others speaking at the rally.

Ray says that the hashtag “isn’t about Kennard Ray,” that this is about everyone who is in a similar situation. In his comments he said he was fine with airing his dirty laundry.
