A few readers have asked what has been most challenging about this photo series, thinking maybe it would be hauling around a camera or walking all over the place.

I have an answer now: the weather and loss of daylight. 

Being able to walk around the neighborhoods for a few hours feels like a luxury right now, when other priorities make such trips only possible at night or in the last hour or so of light that day. Add a rainy day to the mix and…:

you get a chilly, damp walk with everything looking sort of drab. The Church of the Good Shepherd community garden offered up a little color.

The day seemed to fit walking through Carl Pope Jr.’s public art piece, Silent Wishes.

We found some comic relief in the slightly outdated holiday fair sign:

We have been watching this neighborhood transform over the last few years, as new construction joins the old architecture.

And, of course, the Polish National Home:

Walking on, we notice the sidewalk is even more radical than last time:

And benches. This neighborhood offers some places outside of bus stops and parks where people can sit down.
