Superintendents around Connecticut this morning were informed that the SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment) may be used during this coming school year, 2013-2014. Some Superintendents plan to begin using SBAC instead of the CMT/CAPT this year in schools, even though the federal waiver is still pending. Hartford is among the districts planning to use SBAC. This would need Board of Ed approval.

CMT and CAPT scores for 2012-2013 are being released today. Next year’s SBAC results would not be expected until the fall.

On Monday, Real Hartford reported that nobody on the City or State level in Connecticut seemed to know which assessment could be used this year.
