Walking around during the past few weeks has admittedly been an item of procrastination. As we all know, it has been unpleasant, even as early as 8 in the morning, which is when I finally dragged myself out late last week.

So, seeing the water features running at the park at the end of Mountain Street was a pleasant surprise.

Few people were out and about yet, so there was no need to share the water with anyone.

While partial to the old school playscapes constructed of wood and metal, set on a bed of wood chips or just dirt, I have to confess that they’ve got a neat set up down here in the South West neighborhood.

This small park abuts Cedar Hill Cemetery, which sounds creepy, but it’s not.

This is definitely one of the quieter and cleaner parts of Hartford. While walking a few blocks, I do not recall noticing any garbage on the ground once outside of the park.

As noted before, this area feels a bit like a maze, with so many houses in the same style. Luckily, this car served as a landmark.

It was noticeable that lots of homes were up for sale here. On just two blocks, I saw four realtor signs.

Not being super close to amenities might be one reason — besides the heat — that I saw a total of three people outside. But of those, two of the three were friendly and said hello. There are areas of the city where you can pass twenty people and be ignored by all of them.

The In Your Neighborhood photo series is published on weekends. Each installment showcases a different Hartford neighborhood. Photos are taken while on foot or bicycle.
