Academy Award Nominee John Sayles at Cinestudio

Amigo will premiere in Connecticut at Cinestudio on the Trinity College campus. This is currently the only location in the state where the film is scheduled to be screened. While Amigo will be playing at Cinestudio through October 29th, Wednesday (10/26) is the only day of the run when Real Hartford readers will receive free admission to the film and conversation with John Sayles. At the box office, just mention that you are on the list for “Real Hartford”; the only thing that we have received in exchange is knowledge that readers will have a potentially interesting evening out in Hartford.
After viewing, let us know what you think of the film. In the meantime, here is a teaser:

Thanks, Damian! I believe in doing research before stalking celebrities.
It was great to see the film and see Mr. Sayles speak. In addition, a vocal (and groundless) critic in the audience during the Q&A afforded me the chance to witness the director deftly deliver an elegant and reasonable smackdown. Well done all around!
I took notes on that elegant smackdown. It would have been so easy to mock that guy, but Sayles didn’t do that. At least not out loud.
Are you referring to the critic with the two-part criticism, the first of which was that he didn’t like the title of the movie? To which Mr. Sayles replied, “It could’ve been called Sex, Lies, and Videotape?” The whole audience laughed at that. That complaint was so obtuse that it became transcendent. I saw people leaning forward in their seats and gesturing with their arms at the young critic. It was really priceless.
Yeah, that one.
Though in the review post (not this one), the criticism I am referring to is that which I’ve read online. Didn’t deem that audience member’s reactions really worthy of a response.
