The 2011 Greater Hartford Puerto Rican Day Parade kicked off at eleven this morning and made its way down Main Street, before turning toward Bushnell Park.

This annual parade draws an audience from beyond Connecticut and across all demographics.

People in the parade ranged from Governor Malloy and Mayor Segarra to school teachers and firefighters.

There were dancers and musicians, cyclists and bikers, and pageant winners.

The cheering looked like serious business.

Below: best dress ever. If you can’t tell, that is a giant, sparkly pony (or maybe a unicorn).

For those who need a point of comparison, today’s parade seemed equal to or less than the rowdiness of the St. Patrick’s Day parade.
