All this week (March 23-28) The Studio @ Billings Forge (565 Broad Street) is offering free classes. The kickoff for this was Saturday’s open house, where there was face painting, a raffle, origami-making, performances, and other child-oriented activities. Class options listed below:

Modern Dance: fusion of various styles including jazz and salsa. This is for ages 14+. This is offered on Monday and Friday from 10-11am, and on Thursday from 3-4pm.

Theater Workshop for Young Women: interactive class of improv for girls 14-18 yrs. old. Monday and Friday from 12:30-1:30

Learn to Play Guitar: For ages 10+. Bring your own guitar if you have one. If not, one can be made available for you to use. Monday 3-4pm and Friday 4-5pm.

Gentle Yoga: If you’ve never done yoga before or need a class that is not a high-powered aerobic workout, this is the kind of yoga to try. Ages 16+. Monday 5:30-6:30.

Action Figures and Dolls: Create your own by using recycled materials. “Ages 8-99 years.” This is offered on Tuesday morning, from 9-11.

You and You Tube: Learn the basics of storytelling, directing, shooting, editing, rendering, and creating your own channel. Ages 8+. This will be in the computer lab on Tuesday from 3-5pm and on Thursday from 11:30-1:30.

Therapeutic Yoga: “This class incorporates gentle movement to restore mobility and strengthen lower back, hips, shoulders and neck.” This is for ages 16+ and is offered on Tuesday from noon to 1pm.

Shaolin Kung Fu!: Sorry, this is just for kids ages 7-12. I got all excited about it too. This meets on Tuesday from 2-2:45, Wednesday from 1-1:45, Thursday from 4:30-5:15, Friday from 2-2:45, and Saturday from 10:30-11:15.

Growing Your Own Vegetables
: You won’t be able to grow a vegetable in an hour, but you can learn about how to plan a garden, select plants, and how to transplant seedlings. This is for ages 8+. It is offered on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-4pm.

Wire Sculpture: This is for ages “10 to 99 years” and is offered on Wednesday morning from 9-11.

Power Yoga: This is a more intense type of yoga. If you don’t mind sweating, this is the class to take. It’s for those in “reasonable good condition” ages 16+ and is offered Wednesday from 6-7pm.

Bookmaking: This will teach you how to make a book from found objects and is pretty much all ages (7-99). It meets from 9-11am on Thursday.

Zumba: “A fusion of Latin and International music-dance themes that create an exciting and effective fitness system.” 18+ for solo participants; 14+ must be accompanied by an adult. This is on Thursday from 6:30-7:30pm.
