some of the art at real art ways
I’m one of those annoying people who tend to get to events early. I don’t like to fight for parking, so it’s easier for me to be a big loser and walk through the door when an event actually starts. Well, every year being early to the preview show is the only way to see it. After about 15-20 minutes, the place is far too crowded for anyone without absolute zen-like patience to deal with it.
this was one of my favorites
The slide slam was happening in the other rooms. Again, I’m not really an artist in any highbrow sense, so I enjoy quantity over quality. That’s not to say there weren’t intriguing and beautiful things in the mix, but there’s a lot of artwork that I’m just not impressed with either. Of the slides, I think my favorite was the crocheted (or knitted? I’m not sure) bar in the subway.
looks like jelly
I’m happy to report that there was no disgusting rack of animal this time. Of course, with my freaky new nut allergy, I’ve basically given up on mindlessly eating at public events. Oh well.

I’m also happy to say that there was not Target-branding-overload this time. By the way, I do shop at Target, and think it’s the lesser of a few evils as far as the big box stores go. I just don’t think that corporations and art mix.

The real highlight of last night was the music by Catherine Russell. I could try to describe her voice, but you can hear it for yourself on her website. I’d be a bad blogger if i did not shamelessly confess to having a bit of a crush on her the second she got on the stage.

I would have a ton more photos, but I stupidly forgot to recharge the batteries before going out.
